3 Steps to Donate Your Charity:

  1. Condition, Condition, Condition.  Every Donation Center gets hundreds of items a day.  So many places are very picky with the items they accept.  Even a small paint chip or scratch can make the difference when trying to Donate something.   If the item is Electronic make sure the item works properly.  Most Donation centers won’t waste there time fixing broken items.  You Also don’t want to give away broken items to people who can really use them.
  2. Estimate the Value of your Donations.  While we hope you’re donating out of the goodness of your heart, it’s possible to make a little money off your junk. The value of the items you donate is often deductible on your income tax return in the year you make the donation talk with your Accountant about that.
  3. Not All Trash is Treasure. The point of donating is to give items to people who otherwise couldn’t afford them. If you’re trying to pass junk off as treasure, you could end up costing the charity money and wasting a lot of time. All of that junk has to go somewhere, and the charity will have to dispose of it themselves or will end up turning you away and not taking your items. Do everyone the favor of getting rid of it properly the first time and save yourself time and money.
