We’ve always been proud to bring you quality furniture from a premium brand like England Furniture. But did you know that they’re based right here in the Volunteer State? If you didn’t know the backstory, it’s a good one! Today we’re taking a look at England Furniture: Made in Tennessee.
An American Beginning
With a name like “England Furniture” people are sometimes surprised to find that this company is American through and through. England was founded in the 1960’s by Charles England and sons Eugene and Dwight. When the founders of England Furniture set out to establish an American furniture company, they wanted to create sustainable jobs in the region.
Ahead of the Pack
Since 1964, England Furniture has become a pioneer in the industry known for rapid delivery of custom furniture. They established a proprietary transportation system and operations management processes. This ultimately enabled the England Furniture company to keep manufacturing stateside and keep the process streamlined. Thanks to this proprietary transportation system, the company was the first to offer 2-week delivery for a full truck-load of furniture. Most other companies could only offer delivery in 6–12 weeks.
A Bright Future
In 1987 Rodney England took over as President of England Furniture. Under his leadership, in 1992 England Furniture was awarded the East Tennessee “Entrepreneurial Company of the Year.” In 2018, England Furniture expanded their plant in Tennessee. They created 202 jobs after investing $31 million in Claiborne County. Later that year, England Furniture expanded to Virginia to take over the 32,000 square-foot Lee County Industrial Building. The future is bright for England, and the craftspeople who work in the England Furniture plants continue to deliver quality to each piece they create. From the framing process to quality testing and delivery, England Furniture has prided itself on maintaining core values all this time.
